May 18th – 2 pm to 4 pm – 250th Anniversary of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence Tea sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Held at the Charlotte Museum of History. The event will feature a teacup auction, and tickets are required. Registration details and ticket pricing will be announced soon.

The May 20th Society Mission
The May 20th Society promotes Charlotte’s rich history as the first American body to declare independence from Great Britain – more than a year before Thomas Jefferson’s national Declaration. Though the original MecDec was destroyed in a fire some 200 years ago, the spirit of MecDec lives on – a spirit of freedom, leadership and courage.
